Q & A
Q&A
With the Candidate
Q: Why are you running for Porter County Council?
A: Representation. I feel it is time the 2nd District had true representation on the County Council; someone who is visible and vocal and will fight for the issues of Portage Township.
Q: What does a County Councilperson do?
A: The County Council is defined as the fiscal body of the County with legislative authority; in that it may adopt county ordinances.
Q: What exactly is considered the 2nd District?
A: The 2nd District is comprised of 32 out of 38 Precincts in Portage Township. This includes all of Ogden Dunes (Precincts 4&34), all of the City of Portage (except Precincts 21, 22, 27), and over half of South Haven (Precincts 10, 11, 28, 33).
Q: How long have you lived in the 2nd District?
A: I am a life long resident of Portage Township. I graduated from Portage High School in 1993 where I placed 2nd in the IHSAA Wrestling State Finals.
My wife and I now have two young children who are in the Portage Schools System.
Q: Have you ever held a public office before?
A: I am currently a member of the Portage Township Board. The Township Board is the fiscal body of the Township Government.
I had the honor, through winning a Democrat Caucus, of replacing Sue Lynch on the Board after she was elected to the Portage City Council.
